Kadiatou Coulibaly is a Brooklyn-based painter and certified project manager born in Mali and raised in Gabon. In 2019, she founded Nerdy Bae LLC, an African nerd lifestyle brand highlighting the beauty of African nerdiness. Her art practice centers around the concept Denbaw Gaari meaning “mothers thread” in her native language - Bambara. Denbaw Gaari seeks to examine the intricacies of genetic memory through maternal connections using acrylic paint and bogolan (mudcloth) collage.

Coulibaly’s work has been exhibited at the Black Gotham Experience, Roaring Artist Gallery, Black Girls Who Paint, Art on the Avenue, Heath Gallery and Artexpo NY. She was the Summer 2021 resident artist at the Old American Can Factory where she presented her first solo exhibition titled TAAMA.
